High school classmates launch ZzzSock
Kyle Blatt and Jeff Blethen launched their ZzzSock idea while high school classmates in a suburban community outside of Chicago. The young men embarked upon their journey as members of the local Chamber of Commerce Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA). The ZzzSock took first place in the Chamber’s “Shark Tank” style business competition advancing them to the Saunders Scholars Bright Ideas Business Competition in Rochester, New York. ZzzSock’s updated business plan was subsequently submitted to the University of South Carolina’s Proving Ground Business Competition where the ZzzSock idea won the Fluor Innovation Award. Kyle and Jeff subsequently pitched their idea to Fritz Winans, a 20-year veteran in the textile industry. Partnering as a co-owner of the newly formed company, Mr. Winans helped the founders bring the ZzzSock from concept to reality with product development and sourcing decisions.
